Weigh Feeder Accuracy: The Definition of Accuracy
Weigh feeder accuracy is a measure of how closely a feeder discharges material at the desired flow rate. A complete expression of accuracy includes measurements of repeatability and linearity. Repeatability measures the extent of discharge variability at a given flow rate. Linearity gauges the deviation of average flow rate over the feeder's full operating range.

Higher Short-term Accuracy with K-Tron's Electronic Screw Speed Modulation
Single screw feeders, particularly at low rates, can have an unsteady feed rate within one revolution of the screw, resulting in mass flow pulsation. Spiral or full flight single screw feeders exhibit this pulsation more commonly than other screw configurations. Possible mechnical remedies include conical screw ends, rotating tubes, extended tubes, threaded spiral ends, paddles, etc. Depending on the application, some are feasible, others are not. Despite additional costs for these solutions, there is always a residual pulsation. It is because of this that K-Tron developed the electronic screw speed modulation algorithm.
